‘You’re always doing something. Where do you find the time? Are you ever at home?’ These are the some of the comments I hear regularly. It’s true. I love to visit new and familiar places at home and abroad, at every opportunity. Whether it’s a restaurant, music festival, a road trip along the west coast of the USA, or a quick spin down the road to the National Botanic Gardens, I’m always looking for the next adventure. So I’ve decided to share it right here, with my own blog.
My most recent jaunt was 2 weeks ago when myself and my daughter Ella revisited the most amazing place on earth; Gort na Nain in Nohoval, Co. Cork, Ireland. It’s about 5 miles outside Kinsale in the beautiful Irish countryside. An organic vegetable farm owned and run by a delightful couple, Lucy Steward & Ultan Walsh, this is a secret hidden treasure. Visitors get to stay in their home, and enjoy the most delicious dinner & breakfast cooked by and enjoyed with the owners.
All the beautiful vegetables are grown on the farm, their bees produce the honey, and their hens lay the eggs. The couple have recently decided to become Vegan, but still cater for non-vegan guests with a full vegetarian menu. If you’re looking for a great night’s sleep (although on this occasion we did end up at an amazing party in their neighbours home, with lots of live bands and traditional music) and truly amazing vegetarian, home cooked food, Gort Na Nain is a must. Tell Lucy and Ultan we sent you.
